Our Story

Hello! We are Melanie and Matt Parsons, a husband and wife team. Our story begins back in 2006 when Melanie was in high school. She had always wanted a dog, so when two neighbors needed someone to walk their dogs after school, she eagerly volunteered. Her name began to grow around the neighborhood as a responsible pet lover, and soon she was watching all sorts of pets, from birds to hermit crabs, for families on vacation.

Since then, 19 years later, Melanie has turned her passion into a

side business. When she married Matt, it only made sense for him

to jump on board. We tag-team all jobs.

From those first clients to new ones, we to love what we do and pet sit/house sit almost daily. We are bonded, insured, and members of NAPPS (The National Association of Professional Pet Sitters). We have experience with all sorts of animals, and are always willing to care for something new.

We have noticed it can be difficult to find help for small jobs (bringing in mail, watering a Christmas tree, and watering garden plots to name a few). When we saw a need, we decided to fill it. Whatever your needs are, contact us and we will be happy to learn more and help!

We are different than most traditional pet sitters in many ways:

1. Pet sitting is a second career for both of us, as Melanie's primary role is as a teacher and Matt's day job is a copywriter. We pet and house sit around our work schedules, which means that most summers and weekends are open, as well as before and after work. The only times we do not pet sit is on Christmas, and when we are on vacation.

2. Because we both hold regular jobs, we do not offer daily dog walking.
We primarily offer vacation care (when your family is on vacation), overnight stays (in your home only), or a one-day visit (if you go out of town for the day).

3. We do not charge extra money for the amount of pets being cared for. We never charge extra for holidays or cancellation fees. We are flexible with days/times. We understand that life changes fast--and we are okay with that! Maybe you have a situation where your college kids are caring for your pet a few days, but you need someone to fill in when they are not around. Or maybe you are not sure when you will be home from work one day and are not sure if you need us to come that evening. Just let us know your situation in advance and we can work around this! Please give us as much notice as possible if you do end up canceling your trip. Short notice trips are fine as well--if we can accommodate you, we will be there!

4. Since we are also house sitters, getting the mail/newspapers/packages, watering plants, and taking out the trash is always included in pet fees. If you have other needs as well (such as turning on/off lights, or letting repairmen in and out), just ask!

5. First time meet and greets are always free! We will take notes

and will want to meet your pet and see where everything is.

Please be prepared to give us the vet’s phone number, and the

name and number of a close friend or relative.

6. We are a husband and wife operation, NOT a big company. Every time you call, you will only get us. Since we both work during the day, we ask that you provide us with at least 48 hours to respond to all new inquires. We need to check our calendars before accepting a job.

We see pets in the following locations: Haverford, Havertown, Newtown Square, Bryn Mawr, Ardmore, Wynnewood, Villanova, Radnor, Wayne, Narberth, Media, Springfield, Drexel Hill, and Broomall. We will sometimes travel to Upper Darby, West Chester, Bala Cynwyd, and Gladwyne. We do not travel to Philadelphia, Manayunk, Blue Bell, and other areas more than 30 minutes from home.

We look forward to hearing from you!
